Award from National Science Foundation
Global Positions Receives Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Award from the National Science Foundation. Global Positions, LLC, Jere P. Folgert, Principal Investigator, won an NSF SBIR. The goal : facilitate the visualization of air pollution, though GIS, modeling and data automation. Using numerical models and GIS-based computation an internet-based simulator would be made available to schools and universities studying the dynamic nature of airborne pollution. The resulting internet based IGPPS system included a carefully designed Internet-based interface, a powerful air-pollution model and GIS. The goal of this workbench of tools is to be an effective teaching tool allowing "what-if" scenarios to be easily modeled and visualized.
Jere Folgert - Owner
“Mr. Jere Folgert, founder, has over twenty-nine (29) years of experience in geographic information systems (GIS), computer programming, database design, and cartographic design. He has created award-winning maps, has been awarded the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Award by the National Science Foundation and is considered an expert GIS technician. He has served as project manager and GIS analyst on a wide variety of projects ranging from numerical modeling, pollution simulators, environmental mapping, enhanced 9-1-1 implementation and complete GIS turn-key projects. His expertise is in developing GIS solutions, providing GIS training, and integrating geospatial data for the purpose of spatial analysis, and display. Mr. Folgert has a Masters of Science Degree in GIS and is a member of the General Council at the University of Edinburgh, Great Britain. Jere Folgert has been working with GIS and ESRI software since 1988, specializing in problem-solving, training, and GIS services for smaller organizations that prefer a personal approach. Mr. Folgert became an ESRI-certified instructor in 1999. He now provides professional ArcGIS Desktop Training through www.KnowGIS.com. He has provided professional GIS training to people in over fifty (50) countries around the world, including personnel at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Prentice Hall Publishing, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Weather Service (NWS), USDA NRCS, Adventure Travel Company, United Parcel Service (UPS), University Professors, private industry, State and County governments.”

GroEat Farm is a small, sustainable family farm located in Bozeman, Montana. They are located in the beautiful Hyalite foothills, below the Gallatin Mountain Range. The hardneck varieties that grow at their farm (Ophioscorodon) flourish here, due to the combination of the cold winters, temperate summers, moist spring, and the dynamic alluvial soils, washed down from the Gallatin Range (comprised of Archean metamorphics, Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks, and Eocene volcanics). Not only are the GroEat garlic healthy and beautiful, their flavor’s are robust and delicate.

At GroEat Farm, their mission is to grow premium garlic, preserve garlic varieties for the future (through propagation), and to provide others with the opportunity to grow garlic from our seed. They help home gardeners, chefs, small-scale commercial growers, organic gardeners, plant nurseries, and anyone else looking for better garlic. They are continuing a very long tradition of growing quality, gourmet and seed garlic.
